“Human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but … life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.”
― Gabriel García Márquez
My personal image has changed every decade if not more often. From a ballerina girl, to a volleyball player, to a budding nerd, to a nerd, to an engineer, to a wife, to a wife and a mom, to a Professional Engineer, to a Doctor or Philosophy and finally a jack of all trades who finds joy in every job well done. And through each of these changes I liked myself better because I embraced the changes.
And I did not stop changing yet. I believe the best is yet to come as who I was does not dictate who I am and who I am becoming.
Personal image is what we present to the world when we step out and play the role we chose to play. It always begins with the exterior appearance and research revealed that it takes a tenth of a second to form an impression about a stranger just by looking at the face.
People will judge people based on looks before they judge the words and actions. It is physical appearance that introduces us first to the world and we can use this fact to our advantage.
There are many sources of information for how to improve personal image and I described a few in my post Books and Ideas.
